Teddy’s Trail – come see the Wildflowers

Lively Life sponsors Teddy’s Trail through CBMBA

Hiking and Biking!

Teddy’s Trail – come see the Wildflowers end of June to mid August. Summer is the perfect time to hike and bike, honestly I can’t get enough of it. I do it to get physical activity, to connect with nature, feel the wind and sun on my face and body, and to help calm me. Biking really makes me present with every turn, and concentration on the trail. It is a meditation for me, keeping me in the now.

Lively Life sponsors a hike/ bike trail that is accessible for any hiker or biker called Teddy’s Trail through Crested Butte Mountain Bike Association (CBMBA). CBMBA has 450 miles of trails that they maintain, create and work with other non-profit, land trust, land owners and the Town of Crested Butte. Trails include adaptive trails for bikes that are made for handicap athletes and recreationist through our local Adaptive Sports.

Love for Hiking

Physical

Hiking and biking gives our body a chance to use our energy, get stronger, help us with better sleep and get physically stronger.

Mental – Stress Buster

Plus it helps my mind – stay focused on the present moment. Being in nature for short periods like 20 min 3 times a week can reduce the stress hormone cortisol and aligns with the Nature Pyramid.

l love hiking, especially this time of year when the wildflowers in the Rocky Mountain are in full bloom. This year the flowers are incredible and I really can’t get enough. Pictures do not do it justice but I will share a few.

Escaping into green spaces (parks, public land, rural countryside) or blue spaces (coastal areas and lakes) can help balance us mentally as in Psychology Today “The ‘Nature Pyramid’: A blueprint for Health and Well-Being, July 10, 2025. The Nature Pyramid is sourced by Time Beatley.

Get outdoors and let nature heal you – The Nature Pyramid

Being outdoors is a gift, to our soul, body and mind. Take advantage of outdoor areas close to you and

This is similar to the Food Pyramid – Lively Life’s Flexitarian food pyramid promotes plant based eating with occasional fish and meat.

The Nature Pyramid has local neighbourhood at the base, the regional at the next tier, followed by national then international. This could translate to park in your city or town for local neighborhood daily (even walking through the park or working in your garden) to at least 3 times a week, trails in public lands or regional area on weekly. Monthly to a national level – again in the west this can be public lands something that is on your list that you don’t do regularly. The last level is International on a yearly, bi-yearly for longer duration, more intense – If you live in Europe this can be another country, in the USA or Canada this could be another state or province or another country.

REALLY the take away is get outdoors and enjoy nature, and please come to Teddy’s Trail – come see the Wildflowers.

FOOD during activity

Remember to eat before and after activity depending on how the duration and intensity. For athletes – please see details below from Sports Nutrition – Anita Bean.
