Smash burgers have gone viral due to their taste, crispy flavorful crust and quick cooking time.
Their unique cooking method allows for even cooking, crispy outside and using a hot griddle to pressing the patty onto the tortilla.
Mix ground lamb with minced red onion, garlic, jalapeno or diced green chiles, salt, pepper, oil. Press a small amount onto a tortilla. Fry in avocado oil both tortilla down.
Add cabbage, feta salad, and za’atar yogurt. Enjoy!

- How to store after cooked?
- Close container – eat within 4 days. Cool to room temperature and store in air-tight container in fridge for 3-4 days. Use paper towels or parchment paper to separate tacos.

How to make this Greek Inspired Smash Burger Tacos fool proof?
Place a small amount of the mixed lamb onto tortilla. Press it down thinnly on taco. I like it really thin cause I like the cabbage and yogurt toppings!
Preheat griddle to 400-425oF, 200-220oC. Grill the lamb taco with the lamb side down. It’s fast at this temperature.

Greek Inspired Smash Burger Tacos
Ingredients
Simple Coleslaw and Za'atar sauce Lively Life Recipe links in notes below.
Greek-Inspired Smash Burger
- 1 lb ground lamb or 450 grams
- 1/2 minced red onions or one small onion
- 2 pressed garlic cloves
- 2 tsp diced green chiles or 1 jalapeno minced
- salt
- pepper
- 1 tbsp avocado oil
Mix ground lamb with minced onions, cloves, green chiles, salt, pepper, oil together.
Press 1-2 tbsp of ground lamb mixture onto the tortilla. Your preference, I do less than what I show on the pics cause I love the veggies.
- 1 bag tortillas corn or flour
Topping Options : mint leaves, green onions, more feta
Instructions

- Mix ground lamb with minced onions, cloves, green chiles, salt, pepper, oil together.
- Place or press 1-2 tbsp of ground lamb mixture onto the tortilla. Your preference, I do less than what I show on the pics cause I love the veggies. Make as many as you can.
- Heat large skillet (I use cast iron that holds heat) or griddle to medium-high heat. Once hot add avocado oil or butter if needed on skillet.
- Place the tortilla with the meat face down on the skillet and SMASH down till golden-brown with flipper.
- Cook till preferred – medium rare (~ 2 min) or well done (5 min). Then flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes.
- Remove from pan and cook the remaining tortillas. Adding oil only if needed.
- Serve topped with Middle Eastern Za'atar Sauce (or tzatxiki_ and simple coleslaw with optional feta, both linked below in notes.
- Add additional toppings like mint leaves, green onions, more feta, whatever you like!
