High Protein Pumpkin Energy Balls (No-Bake)

No-bake high protein pumpkin energy balls, a healthy Halloween or harvest-season treat, ready in minutes with no oven required.

I love pumpkin pie, pumpkin lattes — really, anything pumpkin — so with pumpkin harvest in full swing and Halloween right around the corner, I wanted to share a healthy option to actually look forward to eating this time of year. High protein comes from a mix of ground seeds or protein powder and almond butter, so these genuinely hold you over without a sugar spike and crash.
I made a batch yesterday and had a little fun with them — a few balls got two candy eyes, a few got just one (my accidental cyclops batch), and I left some completely plain. Kids will probably fight over the two-eyed ones.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- No-bake, ready in about 10 minutes
- High protein, thanks to ground seeds or protein powder plus almond butter
- Easy to make kid-friendly with a touch more sweetener
- Perfect for Halloween (add candy eyes!) or a fall harvest snack, no decoration required
- Make-ahead friendly and keep chilled all week, or freeze for 1 month
Why High Protein Pumpkin Energy Balls, Now?
It’s harvest time with pumpkin pie pumpkins being picked, though I couldn’t find any so I used a can of pumpkin puree. I love pumpkin puree – in lattes and pies, so I thought it would be fun to create a energy ball with extra protein powder to satisfy my hunger this fall and for a non-sweet healthy alternative for Halloween season. All real ingredients, whole foods, and homemade protein powder or store bought protein powder if you want higher protein!

Ingredient Notes
For the protein powder, use either ¾ cup homemade ground seed powder or ½ cup store-bought vanilla protein powder — not both. If you’re serving kids, or just want a sweeter batch, add an extra tablespoon of honey or maple syrup along with 2 extra tablespoons of rolled oats to keep the dough from getting too sticky to roll.

A Holistic Nutrition Tip
A snack that combines protein, fiber, and healthy fat — like these do — helps keep energy steady rather than spiking and crashing, which makes these a genuinely useful thing to have on hand during a busy, candy-heavy season. Having a real-food option ready in the fridge means it’s just as easy to reach for as anything from a bag.
Protein-rich snacks are great for the body to support muscle maintenance in the pre- and post-menopause years, or simply meeting higher protein needs for active bodies. Having something naturally sweetened and satisfying in the freezer or fridge means reaching for real food instead of a packaged treat when that craving hits.
