Healthy Halloween Recipes: Spooky Eats & Treats

Fun, spooky Halloween recipes made with real food: ghost bananas, witch fingers, spider web pretzels, a scary hand cheese plate, and more.

Healthy Treats and Eats for Halloween 🦇

Halloween is almost here, and I’ll admit it: I love this one. The costumes, the silliness, the chance to turn dinner into something that makes people laugh. Over the years I’ve built up a whole graveyard’s worth of spooky recipes, so I gathered every one of them in this post. Whether you’re hosting a party, packing a school treat, or putting together a boo board for the neighborhood, you’ll find something here that’s fun to make and tastes great too.

Up here in the Rockies, costumes usually end up layered over a winter coat, so fun Halloween food is always welcome. Let’s get spooky.

Why You’ll Love These Recipes

  • Fun enough for kids, with real food at the center
  • Keep your blood sugar balanced with some of these healthy options!
  • Most are quick to put together, so you can spend your time at the party
  • Mix and match for a full boo board, a party spread, or a classroom treat
  • Perfect timing: Halloween is just around the corner, and every one of these can be made this week

Build Your Own Boo Board

If you’re not sure where to start, here’s an easy plan: set the Scary Hand Cheese Plate in the center or the Mummy Baked Brie, fan the Sourdough Artisan Crackers around it, tuck in Witch Fingers and Cheese Broomsticks, and fill the gaps with Cheese Eyes and veggies from the Spooks and Spider Dip. Finish with a few Ghost Gone Bananas and Spider Web Pretzels on the side, and you have a full spread that looks like you worked on it for days.

Or keep it more simple and easy – and just use one of the items then typical Charcuterie board items – like olives, sliced tomatoes, sliced onions, other cheeses, crackers, chucks of chocolate.

A Holistic Nutrition Tip

Halloween is more fun when you’re not running on candy alone. Starting the party with real food, like veggies, cheese, eggs, and crackers, means you and the kids are fueled before the treats come out, and that usually makes for a better evening for everyone. A little planning, plus a lot of silliness, goes a long way.
